The KIT Royal Tropical Institute
After seventeen years of construction the Colonial Institute was finished in 1927. A place created especially for gaining knowledge about the cultures of the Dutch colonies. Later the institute was transformed to the KIT Royal Tropical Institute and it has been creating a better world ever since! Since 2017 the institute the first SDG-House of the Netherlands and offers several office spaces to companies that assist the United Nations in realizing the Sustainable Development Goals.
By hosting all sorts of events, such as European Women Payments Network (EWPN), TEDxWomen and several medical congresses, the Conferences & Events team of the KIT, support the knowledge units of the KIT with the focus on Health, Sustainable Economic Development and Gender.
KIT Gender is an international team of gender specialists that focuses on gender and rights analysis, integration, capacity development and action research. We work on both stand-alone women’s rights initiatives and addressing gender and rights issues within programs related to health, and social and economic development.
KIT Gender facilitates and documents critical reflection and gender knowledge development. It supports the development of policies and strategies that focus on gender equality outcomes together with partners and clients. We advise and support management to address gender concerns in all aspects of their organization. KIT Gender also conducts independent evaluations and assessments such as gender audits.
By hosting the 2nd Annual event at KIT, EWPN helps KIT with its agenda.
